Article 7 (1) GDPR requires consent to be demonstrable. Most banners only keep the latest state in the visitor’s browser — clear that storage and the evidence is gone. Consentdeck writes every decision into a log instead: with consent ID, settings version, chosen categories and services, language, banner presentation and an HMAC over exactly those details. In the admin you recompute the checksum against the stored entry — valid or not, no argument.

Nothing loads before the decision. Third-party scripts, embeds and tracking pixels are held back until the matching category is allowed — including those another plug-in only writes into the page at runtime. For maps and videos a placeholder with a load button appears in their place. For measurement and advertising there is Google Consent Mode v2: every signal sits at denied before the first tag and is updated after the decision. For Tag Manager, Consentdeck generates a ready-made container with variables, triggers and tags plus documentation — import it once and you are done.

Which services a website really loads is what the cookie scanner finds out: it fetches the pages, matches the findings against a signature database of known providers and runs on a schedule if you want. Known services are adopted with one click, and the cookie declaration is generated from the maintained configuration automatically — a block on the page that never goes stale.

The banner ships with five themes and a dark mode, plus dimming, blur and a scroll lock as needed. It is installed through a plug-in for WordPress, TYPO3, Shopware and Joomla — or as a single embed script on any other website. Operations and the log stay in Germany. Two things are deliberately missing: A/B tests on the banner (optimising for the approval rate is nudging) and TCF 2.2 (only websites with ad networks need it).

How it works
01

Embed the script

One call in the page head with your site ID — no dependencies, from a server in Germany. For WordPress, TYPO3, Shopware and Joomla there is a plug-in with the site ID already baked in.

02

Maintain or scan services

Enter categories, services, cookies and texts in the admin — or let the cookie scanner run: it matches the findings against the signature database, and adopting them takes one click.

03

Deliver and block

The banner appears in the chosen theme, third-party scripts stay held back until consent, and Consent Mode v2 plus the GTM container take care of measurement and advertising.

04

Retrieve and verify the proof

Every decision sits in the log — with a history per consent ID. Paste the checksum, recompute it against the entry, export as CSV or JSON.

Benefits

Evidence that holds up

Every decision sits in the log with timestamp, selection, version and HMAC — rejections and withdrawals as entries of their own. The checksum can be recomputed at any time.

Nothing loads before consent

Third-party scripts, embeds and tracking pixels wait for the matching category — dynamically injected ones included. Maps and videos get a placeholder with a load button.

The scanner finds what really runs

The cookie scanner fetches the pages, recognises known providers through a signature database and runs on a schedule. Findings are adopted with one click.

Measure with no code rework

Consent Mode v2 is wired up, and the ready-made GTM container with variables, triggers and tags is there to import, documentation included.

Operated in Germany

Script, configuration and log live on servers in Germany, with no detour via a third-party CDN. No plain-text visitor data is stored.

Deliberate gaps instead of window dressing

No TCF 2.2 and no A/B tests on the banner: the first is only needed by websites with ad networks, the second optimises for the approval rate — which is nudging.

Frequently asked questions
Why another consent tool?
Because the evidence is missing. Article 7 (1) GDPR requires you to be able to demonstrate consent. Most banners only keep the latest state in the visitor’s browser — Consentdeck writes every decision into a log with timestamp, selection, version and HMAC, which you can verify in the admin and export as CSV or JSON.
How do I install Consentdeck?
With a single embed script in the page head carrying your site ID — that is enough for Nuxt, Next, Astro, Laravel or static HTML. For WordPress, TYPO3, Shopware 6 and Joomla 5 there is a ready-made plug-in with the site ID already inside. Texts, categories and services are maintained in the admin, and the script fetches them itself.
Does Consentdeck really block everything?
Scripts, iframes, images and tracking pixels are held back until the matching category is allowed — including those another plug-in only writes into the page at runtime. For maps and videos a placeholder with a load button appears in their place.
What about Google Consent Mode v2 and Tag Manager?
Every signal sits at denied before the first tag and is updated after the decision; dataLayer events are sent as well. For Tag Manager, Consentdeck generates a container with variables, triggers and tags plus documentation — import it once, and Tag Manager listens to consent from then on.
What visitor data do you store, and where?
No plain-text data: the IP is only stored as a daily hash, there are no profiles and nothing is passed on. Operations, configuration and log live on servers in Germany. You set the retention period yourself, and the system deletes older entries automatically.
Do I need TCF 2.2 — and why are there no A/B tests?
TCF 2.2 is only needed by websites with ad networks such as AdSense or Google Ad Manager; that requires an IAB-registered CMP, and Consentdeck deliberately is not one. A/B tests on the banner are left out just as deliberately: optimising for the approval rate counts as nudging. Neutral variants such as position or wording can be evaluated through the log.
